Tackle organization that actually saves time on the water

A system that works whether you fish from a kayak, bass boat, or shore — built around how you actually reach for baits, not how you'd ideally store them.

Sort by technique, not by lure type

Don't make a 'crankbait box'. Make a 'shallow reaction' box: squarebills, lipless, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swim jigs. When you're picking up a rod, you're picking a technique — your box should match.

The 5-box system

(1) Shallow reaction. (2) Deep cranks + Carolina-rig weights. (3) Soft plastics + jig heads. (4) Topwater + frog. (5) Finesse: drop-shot, ned, shaky-head. Pick 3 for any given trip and leave the rest at home.

The 'today' tray

On the boat, pick 10–15 baits for the conditions and put them in one open tray on the deck. Everything else stays in the rod box. You'll re-tie 4x faster.

How fishtrapp.app helps

Scan your tackle tray once with the Lure Coach. The AI logs every bait, color, and size into your profile — then when you ask 'what should I throw at Guntersville right now?', it recommends from gear you actually own.

Put this on the water

Open fishtrapp.app and ask ZIP — our AI fishing guide pulls live conditions and lake-specific patterns for any US water in seconds.
